U.S. says Cuba is prohibited from taking Russian oil as two tankers head to island

The U.S. Treasury Department has prohibited Cuba from accepting Russian oil, even as two tankers are expected to arrive. The move comes as Cuba is beset by blackouts and a worsening economic crisis. The Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has added Cuba to a list of countries that will be blocked from transactions involving the sale, delivery or offloading of crude or petroleum products from Russia. This comes after the temporary suspension of sanctions against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.
