The Athletics lost 4-3 to the Rangers in the AL West standings, marking more time alone in the past week than in the previous three seasons combined. Despite Jeffrey Springs' six innings of innings, the Rangers managed to capitalize on these mistakes. The loss leaves the Athletics in a tie for the division lead at 14-13. Whoever wins the series' final game will be the sole occupant of first place again. The A's took a 3-0 lead in the third inning, but the Rangers countered back with a two-run homer by Josh Jung. The longest games-walked streak in franchise history was set at 15.
