The Supreme Court has ruled that oil and gas companies can continue their fight against lawsuits over coastal land loss and environmental degradation in Louisiana. The decision comes after a state jury ordered Chevron to pay over $740 million to clean up damage to the state's coastline. The companies, supported by the Trump administration, deny responsibility for land loss in Louisiana and argue it's wrong to sue them for what they did before state environmental regulations were implemented. The case is part of several lawsuits alleging oil companies including Chevron and Exxon have violated state environmental laws for decades.
