Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a soon-to-be-former U.S. representative for the Democratic Senate, was defeated in the Democratic Texas primary by state Rep. James Talarico, who had more than 50 percent of the vote compared to Crocket. Early returns in the primary had her odds tanked her chances on betting markets, with both Polymarket and Kalshi predicting she would only have a 1 percent chance of winning as of 8 p.m. Central, compared to 99 percent for state Rep., who was outperforming in counties where she should have been way ahead. Despite her loss, Croickett's popularity and national profile were not as strong as expected, and she blamed nefarious forces for keeping her from the nomination. Despite these setbacks, she remains hopeful about running for the Senate seat in November.
