Local farms in the Fargo-Moorhead area are using community-supported agriculture models, or CSA programs, to provide fresh, local produce for their members. Farm in the Dell operates with a program that allows people to purchase shares of the farm's harvest ahead of time in return for regular produce boxes throughout the growing season. The CSA program subsidizes the farm operation, which employs adults with disabilities. Members can pick up their weekly shares and interact with the farm workers. Bill Erbes Farm includes a variety of produce from North Dakota in its CSA boxes, including cucumbers, corn, tomatoes, potatoes and onions. At Ladybug Acres, owner Amanda Schlenker uses a more traditional CSA model, taking on between 50 and 60 members per season.
