Organized crime ring put food stamp card skimmers in Cleveland area: Feds

Five California men, Marian Semplican, Ionut Ilie, Constantin Ion, Valentin Velicu and Dragos Vasile, have been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, access device fraud and identity theft. The group allegedly stole 981 food stamp accounts in just over a week, gaining access to tens of thousands of dollars. The devices were installed at grocery stores or gas stations in California and then in Ohio. The stolen data was then transferred to other devices, often by Ilie himself. All five have been arrested.
