Groups linked to AIPAC are using a unique tactic to discredit pro-Palestinian progressives in Democratic congressional primaries. The tactic involves attacking them from the left, highlighting their controversial statements about Israel and their personal wealth. One group, Chicago Progressive Partnership, has run an ad against a Congressional Progressive Caucus-backed candidate in Illinois' 8th district, alleging that he received funds from "right-wing donors". Another group, Elect Chicago Women, has spent $4.6 billion in support of state Sen. Laura Fine and attacking Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss. The money behind these ads is significant, with CPP spending nearly $600,000 in the 8th and over $1 million in the 9th.
