Publisher and producer Mike Richardson has been replaced as CEO of Dark Horse Comics, the media company he built up from a comic book store business. In his stead, video game holding company Embracer, the company that bought Dark Horse in 2022, will install gaming exec Jay Komas as interim CEO. The company is focusing on aligning Dark Horse within a more connected and forward-looking group structure, which is part of its strategy to modernize the business and strengthen collaboration across publishing, games, film, merchandise and other key areas. Richardson started as a comic retailer with his Oregon-based store, Pegasus Fantasy Books, before launching Dark Horse. The comic company was known for publishing licensed comics such as Alien and Predator comics.
