The AI revolution is creating a three distinct groups of individuals, power users, doubters, and resisters, who are not using its full capabilities. The disconnect between power users and doubters is evident everywhere, from job-loss fears to data center protests to actual violence. The former OpenAI and Tesla AI leader, Andrej Karpathy, stated that there is a growing gap in understanding of AI capability and that many people let a single session with ChatGPT's free tier define their view of AI. The economic impact report by Anthropic found that experienced users attempt harder tasks and succeed more often than casual users, creating a new kind of economic gap between advanced users and everyone else. Protests are becoming more common in San Francisco and communities targeted for new data centers are becoming increasingly common.
