A driver is in critical condition after his SUV struck a train in Dodge County, Nebraska. The collision occurred just after 1 a.m. Saturday morning, one mile north of Fremont, near County Road 23 and County Road S. The Dodge County Sheriff's Department found an SUV northbound on fire when it struck a passing train. The train, a 100-car train, continued to travel northeast for about five miles and stopped near Nickerson, Nebraska, causing tracks to be damaged and 33-year-old Jonathan Rains was transported to an Omaha hospital in a critical condition. The highway was closed for about nine hours and may remain closed throughout the day as Burlington Northern plans to make repairs to the tracks.
