33 million Americans have food allergies, with one in every 13 children having a food allergy. The top nine food allergens in the U.S. are peanut, tree nuts, milk, egg, wheat, soy, sesame, shellfish, and fish. Food allergy reactions can vary from mild to severe, with some progressing to severe anaphylaxis, which can result in low blood pressure and loss of consciousness.
