The Federal Trade Commission reported that last year, service members, veterans, and their families reported losing an estimated $178 million to imposter scams. This comes as the U.S. conflict with Iran escalates. Ellen Gustafson, executive director of We the Veterans and Military Families, has warned that AI-generated images of service members may not be real. She also highlighted that scammers are using fake benefits offers and images of deceased service members to raise money for other service members. Gustefson's group is launching a new public awareness campaign called "Protect Your Six and Your Sanity" to help military families spot these scams before it's too late.
