David Lindsay-Abaire's new play, "The Balusters," is about a stop sign. The play is a mash-up of Jonathan Spector's "Eureka Day" and Tracy Letts' "August: Osage County". It depicts a group of neighbors who aim to make their community better or maintain the status quo. The main character, Elliot Emerson, plays a local realtor who wants to keep the historic blocks as they always have been. However, Kyra Marshall (Anika Noni Rose) arrives with the arrival of a woman who wants a stop-sign. Despite these challenges, the play has been praised for its portrayal of these individuals.
