Apple's iPhone Fold, a foldable iPhone, is expected to debut in 2026, despite rumors suggesting it may be delayed again. Despite this, the product lacks a real point and purpose, as foldables currently make up around 3% of the total smartphone market and cost significantly more. The product is compromised and lacks a compelling solution to a problem that nobody really has. It costs more than a high-powered laptop, has a creased display, and doesn't run optimized software. The camera system is inferior and requires Touch ID, and it is unlikely Apple would include two Face ID sensors. Despite these compromises, Apple CEO Tim Cook has expressed interest in the foldable concept and is not likely to abandon it. The release window for the iPhone Fold is still expected to be 2026. Despite numerous rumors surrounding the product, there are still no official announcements regarding its imminent mass production.
