$35 million fraud: Mercer Island CFO gets 2 years for funneling funds into crypto bets

Nevin Shetty, a former CFO of a private software company in Mercer Island, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for defrauding his former employer of about $35 million into risky cryptocurrency investments. The fraud led to layoffs of 60 employees and nearly forcing the company to close. Shetty was convicted on four counts of wire fraud and ordered to pay $35,000,100 in restitution.
