The Boston Red Sox ended their five-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the San Diego Padres. Marcelo Mayer and Willson Contreras both hit home runs during a three-run sixth inning. Caleb Durbin also ended his hitless streak with an RBI single in the fourth inning. Sonny Gray earned the win for Boston, while Aroldis Chapman saved the game with a walkout in the ninth. The win was part of a celebration of former player Xander Bogaerts' return to Boston. The Padres and Red Sox will face each other on Saturday.
