As the May 2 election nears, voters in Addison, University Park and Highland Park are deciding on their future in the Dallas Area Rapid Transit system. Concerns were raised at a public hearing by residents and riders who stressed the importance of DART's services for dependent riders and advocated for a connected system to support the region's economy. If the cities withdraw from DART, DART will close rail stations and bus stops, reroute buses, reduce on-demand service and discontinue paratransit within the withdrawing city’s limits. Parapransit service for riders with disabilities would also be discontinued. The agency is required to notify riders of any major change or discontinuation of service.
