Trump’s Triumphal Arch: What the 250-foot monument would look like
Published on April 17, 2026.
The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts has approved the concept design for the Triumphal Arch, a 250-foot monument proposed by President Donald Trump. The commission's members, all appointed by Trump, will review an updated design before taking a final vote at a future meeting. The arch, which would be 250 feet tall, would feature a Lady Liberty-like statue and pair of eagles atop its structure. It would also be reviewed for two other projects, including painting the gray granite exterior of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building white and construction of an underground center for security screenings of tourists and other guests. However, a group of veterans and a historian has sued in federal court to block construction on the arch, arguing it would disrupt the sightline between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.
