The NFL's two-decade-long effort to diversify its coaching ranks and front offices is being challenged by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, who is threatening to take enforcement action against the league unless it revokes the Rooney Rule. The rule, named after former Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney, requires NFL owners to interview minority candidates for coaching and front office roles and has evolved over the years. Uthmann has also sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell urging reconsidering the rule.
