Hinsdale Central's Matt and Luke Vatev, two swimmers, have been hailed as the best swimmers in the state this season, leading HinsdaleCentral to their fourth consecutive state championship. The Vatevs’ father, Dan, and mother, Christine, both worked in the medical field and met at a hospital in Chicago when they were introduced to the sport. They learned to swim at the YMCA and received lessons at the age of 3. Hinsdal Central's coach Bob Barber credits their commitment to the team and their support group for their success. The boys are also in touch with their teammates' abilities and their coaching decisions. They have committed to Penn and Stanford respectively.
