Costco is testing a new checkout system that supposedly takes just eight seconds, but workers seem to dislike it. The new system involves employees scanning items in customers' carts before they even reach the cash register. The system is designed to speed up throughput and reduce errors. However, current wait times can exceed 20 minutes. Early results show this is improving the flow of traffic and has received great member feedback, Costco CFO Gary Millerchip said.
