The children's clothing retailer, Carter's, is closing 150 stores across the United States, including 21 in New Jersey. The closures are part of a strategy to turn around the company, with increased product costs and increased investment contributing to profitability. The stores, which collectively represent about $110 million in annual sales, will be closed as their leases expire. Additionally, about 300 employees will be laid off to cover the losses. These closures are among 1,400 expected to close in 2026.
