Gallego bets on quantum computing as Phoenix's next tech boom

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego has identified quantum computing as the next technological frontier for the city, with a new initiative to attract investment in the field. The Phoenix Quantum Strategy, led by former National Science Foundation director Sethuraman Panchanathan, aims to position Phoenix as a "quantum hub" in the U.S. Other initiatives include the creation of the Phoenix Housing Trust Fund to help cover costs of permits for affordable housing projects and the implementation of the city's own program for nutrition assistance recipients. Spanish cancer research company ROIS has made a $100 million investment in Phoenix, its newest manufacturing site.
