Charlotte Bowers, a 33-year-old woman from Manchester, was lucky to be alive after her unplugged electric toothbrush exploded and set into flames in February 2026. The incident occurred while Charlotte was asleep and caused the toothbrush to set fire, but luckily, the steel frame of the bathroom mirror prevented the flames from spreading. Charlotte, who purchased an Oral B Cross Action toothbrush in May 2025, had no issues with it for eight months and was shocked to discover it had exploded during the night. She said she will never use an electric toothbr again and that it's "not worth the risk". Despite the $267 cost to fix the damage, Charlotte has asked Oral B for compensation to cover the cost of the paint.
