N Nolan McLean pitched five perfect innings in the Mets' 10-3 win over the San Francisco Giants, marking only his 10th big league start. Despite not having a feel for his best pitches, McLean dominated the Giants' lineup, relying heavily on his cutter to get him out of bad counts and avoid bad ones. Despite a slow start, he managed to maintain his perfect game, which was broken by Harrison Bader's leadoff walk in the sixth inning. The Mets' offense also provided some run support early in the game, scoring five runs against right-hander Tyler Mahle and allowing McLean to score five in the first two innings. Juan Soto, who left the game early, had to undergo an MRI after injuring himself during the first inning, will undergo further imaging.
