Michigan won their first national championship since 1989 with a 69-63 victory over UConn. The victory was largely attributed to Elliot Cadeau, a junior who scored a game-high 19 points and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. Despite a strong performance from Lendeborg, the team lost the point guard battle by a wide margin. This marked the first loss in U.S. history for the team.
