‘A failure to communicate’: Senate resources chair says confidence in LNG developer is lost

Alaska lawmakers are divided over the proposed LNG pipeline, following a disagreement over information. Senate Resources Chair Cathy Giessel, R-Anchorage, stated that she has no confidence in the project's primary developer, Glenfarne, and that financial information is confidential. The Senate Resources Committee introduced Senate Bill 275, the "Alaska Gasline Transparency and Accountability Act" to address the information gap. Despite the bill's stated goal of enacting common-sense gas line policy, it has been criticized by several lawmakers who believe it undermines the optimism the project needs.
