Former Antioch police officer Eric Rombough was sentenced to four years and two months in prison for crimes of violence, racism, and other crimes. He committed more crimes than his 13 former peers who also faced serious charges. Despite initially hiding his crimes and aiding prosecutors in his confession and testimony, he admitted his crimes in court. Senior U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White stated that without Rombogh's apology and testimony he likely would have faced a prison sentence of 75 months or more. The charges against 14 former East Contra Costa police officers include charges related to imbecilic, racist texts, and violating civil rights in the use of a plastic bullet launcher. Romboug was accused of routinely shooting people without cause, using less-lethal rounds without cause and using department policy violations.
