Meridian man sentenced to life in prison in 2025 murder of teen

Daniel Alaniz-Pineda, 20, has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2025 murder of 19-year-old Tiger Canoy. The robbery took place in a Boise parking lot and resulted in Canoy being shot in the head and subsequent death. Alaniz Pineda must serve a minimum of 23.5 years before becoming eligible for parole. Two co-defendants, Miguel Angel-Martinez and Jordan Castillo, previously pleaded guilty to robbery for their roles in the crime. The Ada County Prosecutor's Office commended the partnership between the Boise and Meridian police departments for their efforts.
