The Los Angeles Chargers are cutting offensive lineman Mekhi Becton from a two-year, $20 million contract that guaranteed him just under $7 million. The move comes ahead of NFL free agency. Bectons' performance with the Jets was hampered by injuries and ineffectiveness, and he left after four years to sign with the Eagles. He then joined the Chargers in 2025, but struggled without injured tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt. The Chargers will incur a $2.5 million dead cap charge in 2026 but save $9.7 million by releasing BectON.
