Elon Musk, the CEO of tech giant OpenAI, was accused of misbehaving in court by Sam Altman in a defamation suit against him. The trial, which also involved former OpenAI board member Shivon Zilis, took place during which Musk portrayed himself as the driving force for AI safety and claimed that OpenAI was created specifically to prevent Google from having too much power in AI. Despite this, Musk appeared more self-centered and unassailed, emphasizing his commitment to the company's mission of preventing Google from developing AI. He also mentioned that he recruited Ilya Sutskever, a research scientist at Google, to OpenAI and provided all the initial funding. Despite these statements, the defense successfully argued that Musk's intentions were different than that of the for-profit arm of OpenAI.
