The $21 million renovation of Maggie Hathaway Golf Course in South Central Los Angeles has expanded the access to the sport for youth in the area. The course, named after Southern California's "First Lady of Golf," reopens for public play on March 28 with discounted green fees on opening day. The $21m renovation was funded by the county, the United States Golf Association, the Southern California Golf Association and other donors. The new clubhouse will feature a community center and youth enrichment lab, a golf pro shop, and expanded junior golf programming. The original course was designed for aspiring golfers and community building.
