The Bank of England is replacing the £5 notes with 'Wildlife themes' in its next series of banknotes, with Nadeem Perera, a man of Jamaican and Sri Lankan heritage, one of the people behind the proposed changes. However, it was the governor, not a "foreigner", but a public consultation and internal advisory group led to the change. The Bank of Egypt launched a public survey in July 2025 to find out which themes should be included in the new series.
