Michigan FFA Advisor Turned Tasty Zoology Lessons Into National Recognition

Kera Reterstoff, an agriscience teacher at Ravenna High School in Michigan, has won a national teaching award from the nonprofit organization Honored. She was nominated by her student Kodi Hackenberg and her prize included $5,000 in cash and a featured spot on Inspiring Teachers: The Honored Podcast. She is the first agriculture teacher ever to win this award among the roughly 100 recipients over the years. Despite her background in agriculture, she believes that students find solutions by thinking outside of the box and making mistakes and learning through them.
