The Department of Energy and Prevention (Phenician) is planning to conduct a controlled burn at 18 acres of Nehantic State Forest in Gloucester, New England. The burn is intended to restore oak savanna, a type of forest that was historically maintained by Indigenous peoples. The burns will be conducted every 2 to 5 years to maintain the oak savannas.
