Convicted killer found dead in N.J. prison cell

Darrell Foye, a convicted murderer, was found unresponsive in a cell at Northern State Prison in Newark on March 4. The cause and manner of death are under investigation. Foyo had been in state prison since April 27, 2001 for a murder conviction and was serving a sentence of 30 years to life. This is the second inmate to die at the prison this year. The first death occurred on Jan. 22, when inmate Melvin R. Inouda was beaten to death with severe blunt force trauma. The Department of Corrections has a zero-tolerance policy regarding abuse, disrespect, or exploitation of individuals in custody.
