Daniel Domenjó, CEO of Movistar Plus+, the largest Spanish pay TV and SVOD operator, is set to exit as CEO in March 2025 and will be replaced by Alfonso Gómez Palacio, head of operations of parent Telefónica in Latin America, outside Brazil. This is the second management shakeup in just over a year at Movistar+. This announcement comes amid concerns about a potential pullback in film and TV investment, particularly in top-flight directors like Javier Bardem and Pedro Almodóvar. The company is seen as a key driver in Spain's recent international success, with original titles such as "The Beloved" and "La Bola Negra" selected for main competition at the Cannes Festival.
