Several Kansas City restaurants are planning to add automatic gratuity charges to their menus during the World Cup. The move comes as city prepares to host visitors from countries where tipping is not customary. The Missouri Restaurant Association recommends businesses add an automatic 20% gratuity charge, but this is not a mandate. Management and owners at La Bodega and BLVD Tavern, along with JJ's in West Plaza, plan to charge around 18% automatic gratu. The policy protects employees who rely on tips as their primary income. After the matches, restaurant leaders will return to its normal tipping policy.
