Artist Jamie Emerick has restored a 1938 printing press house in San Francisco for $1.3 million. The property, known as the "Letterpress," is located in the Mission District and has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind "micro compound" by Emerick, who has spent 10 years transforming it into a living work of art. The building, which served as a printing press business for over 80 years, was abandoned when Emerick found it in 2016, and purchased it for $2.38 million. She and her family have since moved into the three-bedroom living space above the printing room, restoring wood floors, bay windows, and a large deck. The buyer, all of whom Emerick is currently an acclaimed painter and mixed media sculptor, includes furniture from reclaimed wood and furniture salvaged from old printing press.
