The Tony Awards, the Broadway ceremony, hosted by Pink, has been announced as the host of the CBS award show on June 7, which celebrates Broadway, not aughts pop hits. The Tonys, which honors a handful of plays and musicals, scored only 4.9 million viewers last year, far lower than the 8.4 million viewers in 2016 when "Hamilton" won Best Musical. Despite this change, longtime Tonys producers White Cherry Entertainment, who have been in charge since 2004, were replaced with Raj Kapoor, the man who has directed the past two Oscars. Despite her lack of Broadway connections, Pink has never performed on the Great White Way, co-produced a show, or been an usher, or sold $40 wine in a sippy cup. The show is expected to be held at Radio City Music Hall for $731.
