The New York Mets and New York Yankees took different approaches to dealing with cold weather on Tuesday, with both teams opting for earlier games and fewer. The Mets moved their game from 7:10 p.m. to 4:10p.m., with the agreement of the Diamondbacks, to begin play with temperatures in the low 50s. The Yankees, however, continued their game with a 7:05p. m. start as planned and won 5-3 over the A's. In the Mets farm system, games involving Triple-A Syracuse and Double-A Binghamton were postponed due to the chill and expected heavy winds. Fans who already purchased tickets for games Tuesday or Wednesday were offered an additional voucher for a future game. The move reflects that Steve Cohen, the richest owner in the sport, earns the highest return on a Tuesday game in April.
