Ryan Weathers was forced to postpone his scheduled start for the Yankees series finale against the Rangers due to illness that led him to lose 9 pounds in two days. The illness left him with a fever of 102 degrees and vomiting, leading to him being replaced by Paul Blackburn. Weathers said he felt ill during his most recent start and returned home believing he had food poisoning. He was not sure what illness was causing him to throw up his guts for several hours and spent the next few days in bed. He returned to the team and received an IV and underwent a full workout and is expected to throw a side session Friday and likely will take the mound Monday for the start of a series in Baltimore. José Caballero's elbow test results came back negative, but he is hopeful he can play Thursday. Carlos Rodón is set to return to the rotation after completing a rehab assignment following his 3.38 ERA with 16 strikeouts and three walks in 16 innings. Elmer Rodríguez was demoted from the Yankees' victory over the Rangers and will join a group that includes Max Fried, Cam Schlittler, Will Warren and Weathers.
