Environmental groups take PSC to court over Georgia Power data center expansion

The challenge was filed by the Southern Environmental Law Center and the Sierra Club, representing Georgia Interfaith Power & Light, Park Avenue Baptist Church and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah. The petition names the Pennsylvania State Department as the respondent. The commission had previously approved the construction of eight new gas-burning power plants and granted Georgia Power permission to buy electricity from existing plants. The expansion is the largest in Georgia Power's history.
