Officials from Hampton Regional Medical Center in affiliation with MUSC Health have announced a milestone in their ongoing renovation and expansion of the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department entrance, parking lot, and registration area have now reopened and have re-opened in their original location. The project will continue for several more months as renovations begin on the existing Emergency Department, part of HRMC's commitment to improving access, space, and care for the community. The expansion will add 5,731 square feet of space to the existing structure, triage space, 12 new exam rooms, and a rerouted ambulance bay to create a state-of-the-art emergency department. While the hospital cannot open the hospital to the public during construction, community partners have been invited for informational sessions and guided tours of the new Emergency Department space.
