Federal immigration agents to deploy to Hartsfield-Jackson Monday, Atlanta mayor says
Published on March 22, 2026.
Federal immigration agents will be deployed to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from Monday morning to assist with security operations during a federal budget impasse. The move comes as hundreds of thousands of Department of Homeland Security employees have been working without pay since last month, contributing to five hour security wait times at the airport. Federal personnel from Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations are expected to arrive at the Atlanta airport. All federal personnel will report directly to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the duration of their assignment.
