Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.) has announced that she will introduce articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for war crimes following President Trump's planned strikes on Iran's bridges, desalination plants, and power plants. Ansari, the child of Iranian immigrants, accused Hegsetsh of recklessly endangering U.S. servicemembers and committing war crimes such as bombing a girls’ school in Minab, Iran, and targeting civilian infrastructure. She has urged the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment, which allows for an involuntary transfer of power to declare the president "unable to discharge his office" and make the vice president the acting president. Despite allegations that the military is violating international law, Hegsetth supports the plan to proceed despite opposition.
