FDA issues emergency approval for new medication in fight against New World Screwworm

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has praised the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's decision to issue an Emergency Use Authorization for F10 Antiseptic Wound Spray with Insecticide, a topical treatment designed to prevent and treat infestations of the New World screwworm. The authorization allows the product to be used in cattle, horses, sheep, goats, deer, and other wild birds, pet birds, and captive wild and exotic mammals. Miller said the decision provides livestock producers and veterinarians with another line of defense against a parasite that threatens livestock and wildlife.
