Cass County, Kansas, is under review after some residents received false tornado alert cancellations after an EF One TORNADO ripped through Belton, damaging trees and homes in the city. The National Weather Service's damage report indicates that the tornado's peak winds reached near 110 mph and it touched down on the southside of Belton just over five minutes into the evening. Cass County's emergency notification system is designed to quickly deliver alerts through text and emails rather than through phone calls. The president of the Belton CEMETERY Association has pledged to restore the damaged buildings and restore them to their former glory. The tornado damage has been estimated at around 800,000 feet. Local businesses have been busy cleaning up debris and replacing damaged roofs and trees.
