K-pop supergroup BTS' world tour could generate a $5.3 billion economic boost to cities hosting the 44 cities on the tour, according to analysts at NH Investment & Securities. Maria Herrera, a utility employee from Vancouver, and her two daughters, part of a global wave that analysts have dubbed "BTSnomics". They were willing to travel without securing concert tickets to watch a performance in Seoul, where they planned to treat themselves afterwards with Botox, haircuts and Korean barbecue. The estimate includes direct revenue and secondary consumer spending. South Korea is already seeing the benefits of BTS, with inbound tourists increasing by 32.7% from the previous month, and hotel rates increasing by seven times at some venues.
