A woman named Ashley went into labor on a Delta Air Lines flight from Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport to Portland International Airport in Oregon on April 24. The flight made an emergency landing in Portland at around 10 p.m. ET. Two passengers, Tina Fritz and Caarin Powell, who delivered the baby, were friends returning from vacation and were on the aircraft by chance. The birth was so successful that the whole plane cheered for Ashley. Both mother and child were reportedly in a stable condition on the ground.
